Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani's Auxiliary Contributions to Education and Capacity Building

In addition to his primary responsibilities, Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani has undertaken a wide range of auxiliary assignments that have significantly enhanced NCERT’s impact on Indian education and teacher development. These initiatives have contributed to building a robust educational ecosystem in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

I. National Achievement Survey (NAS) and Pedagogy Development

 

Development of the National Achievement Survey (NAS) Report, which is a key tool for assessing student learning outcomes at a national level.

Led the development of a handbook on Toy-based and Game-based pedagogy, which integrates playful learning techniques into education.

 

II. Teacher Training and Professional Development

 

Guided the development and launch of NISHTHA-ECCE Course Modules, providing integrated training to educators at the foundational level.

Facilitated Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses on critical topics such as water harvesting action research, cyber safety, health and well-being, and teacher counseling.

Provided leadership in training on e-content development, ICT in education, PM eVIDYA, DIKSHA, and micro-improvement programs such as PRASHAST.

Oversaw the development of online courses like Upper Primary Science and Post-Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling.

Organized online teacher training programs on Communicative English for teachers of Vietnam.

 

III. Recruitment and HR Development

 

Supervised recruiting around 400 teaching and non-teaching positions in NCERT and its constituent units, ensuring that the organization has the human resources needed to support its wide array of programs.

 

IV. National-Level Events and Competitions

 

Played a central role in organizing various national-level science exhibitions, the Yoga Olympiad, All India Children’s Educational Audio Video Festival, and Kala Utsav for the years 2022-24.

Led efforts in the National ICT Award and the National Teachers' Innovation Award, recognizing innovative practices in teaching.

 

V. Manodarpan and Mental Health Initiatives

Provided leadership to Manodarpan, a government initiative offering IVRS-based guidance and counselling services for the mental health and well-being of students and teachers.

 

VI. Educational Content Development

 

Supervised the administration and academic functions of NCERT’s eight constituent units, ensuring a high content and curriculum delivery standard.

Led the development of NCERT textbooks, teachers' handbooks, journals, and supplementary materials.

Oversaw the creation of e-content, including audio, video, virtual labs, and augmented reality, enhancing digital learning experiences through various platforms like portals and apps.

Guided the development of vocational education materials and conducted training programs for stakeholders.

 

VII. Support to SCERTs and Other Institutes

 

Provided hand-holding and support to SCERTs, SIETs, CTEs, BIETs, and DIETs across the nation, ensuring their alignment with NEP 2020 and NCERT’s educational framework.

VIII. National Seminars, Workshops, and Webinars

Organized numerous national seminars, webinars, and workshops to foster knowledge exchange and capacity building among educators.

IX. Digital Education Platforms

 

Oversaw the development and management of digital education platforms such as E-Pathshala, NISHTHA, and PM eVIDYA, which includes 12 DTH TV channels, 400 radio stations, 15 websites, and 10 mobile apps managed by CIET-NCERT.

X. Teacher Education and Schools

Supervised the running of Pre-Service and In-Service Teacher Education Programs in five Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs).

Led the administration of four Demonstration Schools, catering to students from Nursery to Class 12.

XI. Textbook Printing and Dissemination

Coordinated the printing and dissemination of textbooks through NCERT's Publication Division and RPDCs, ensuring timely availability of learning materials.

XII. Research and ICT Interventions

Led research studies in five blocks (Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Meghalaya, Tripura), contributing valuable insights to education policy and implementation.

Oversaw ICT interventions in Odisha and Rajasthan, promoting the use of technology in enhancing educational access and quality.

Prof. Saklani's auxiliary contributions reflect his deep commitment to strengthening the education system through research, teacher training, content development, and the integration of technology, ensuring that NCERT continues to lead in educational innovation and reform.
